Hiking to Balta di Stringa Waterfall – Iliochori – Zagori (Tymfi)
Journey through the captivating landscapes of Iliochori and Zagori to witness the breathtaking Balta di Stringa Waterfall. This family-friendly hike unveils the natural beauty of the Tymfi region, characterized by dramatic cliffs, lush greenery, and cascading waterfalls.
Balta di Stringa is located east of the village, at an altitude of about 780 m. Τo get there, you have to follow the well signed trail to Laista. The route starts from the central square of the village, is relatively easy and well-signed, and family friendly. It crosses and area of lush vegetation, and on the way to the waterfalls you will find the stone bridge of Petsos.
The path is well organised by the local community and up to the Aghios Athanasios Chapel, is mainly an easy downhill.
Hiking in Kouiassa Waterfall and Kipinas Monastery
Wherever you are in Epirus, somewhere near you, there will be a “hidden” place that will surprise you with its beauty. One of them is the waterfall of Kouiassa in Tzoumerka and more specifically, five minutes before you reach the village of Kalarrites, after the metal bridge that crosses Kalarritikos river, you can park your car where there is and the sign that starts the path. The path from the main road to the waterfall is only 15 minutes. On your way you will find a watermill that works as a cafe next to the river. As soon as you reach the waterfall, the landscape will enchant you with its beauty, so it is a very good idea, if you are there in the summer, to take a dip in the crystal clear waters of the Kalarritikos river.
Kouiassa bridge is a stone-built, single-arched, semicircular bridge in the valley of the river Chrousia. In the trunk of one part of the bridge there is a smaller arch that lightens the construction (relief arch) and allows the rapid passage of water in case of flood.
It was built with funding from wealthy residents and immigrants from Kalarrites, around 1800. The name Kouiassa means shady place.

Hiking in Tzoumerka (Athamanika) Theodoriana – Marks Stream – Rema Marks
The trail to the beautiful Marks Stream starts about 2.5 km from the village square on the way to Arta. Passing the junction at the water bottling plant, coming out of the road with the fir trees, one comes across, a sign that leads left to a forest road and to the beginning of the path.
The trail starts from the tarmac road and descends on a path into a wonderful fir forest, in the footsteps of the old path which led to “Elatia”. after few minutes we reach a bridge where we cross it and from that point and on, the entire trail is under the shade of the trees.
The trail is well signed, with older and newer signs and I could also say very easy to hike and very family friendly.
Hiking to the Wildfire Observation Station of Skipiza – Parnitha
There are many different paths that lead to the wildfire observation station of Skipiza. One option is to start from Mola, another option is to start from the Bafi mountain refuge and another route is to start from the location “skalakia”. The latest option is the easiest and less distant route in order to reach the wildfire observation station of Skipiza.
The trail is well signed, easy to follow and the elevation gain is minimal. Therefore, is a great hiking route for families with toddlers.

Hiking in Mikro Panta Vrechi gorge – Evrytania
Mikro Panta Vrechi is an impressive but not very well-known gorge near the village of Tornos in Evrytania. It got its name, “It always rains” (Panta Vrechi), from the water that falls along like rain throughout the year from springs located on the tops of the vertical cliffs, creating a unique sight and experience for the visitor.
In order to visit “Mikro Panta Vrechi” one must first reach the village Tornos, a location of unparalleled natural beauty that is about 34 kilometers from Karpenisi. Tornos is the village immediately after Prussos and it is about 8 kilometers from the monastery of Prusiotisa.
Prior of entering the village of Tornos, we turn left towards the church of Holy Trinity. At that point we can locate a parking spot ( 38.740969, 21.674825 ) where we can leave the car and is also the starting point of the trail.
The trail is very easy for any kind of hiker including families. The only part that might challenge some, is the last 10 minutes of hike that lead right in the heart of the gorge.
