During this year’s road trip through northern Greece, the Nestos River area was high on my list of places to explore. Located between Thrace and Macedonia, this region is renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty, with the Nestos River serving as a natural border that cuts through lush landscapes and towering cliffs. I had heard so much about its pristine environment and the range of outdoor activities it offered, so I was eager to experience it firsthand.
To make the most of my visit, I reached out to a local climber Chris, who is well-versed in the hidden locations of northern Greece. After a quick chat, he recommended the perfect spot for an overnight stay—a secluded area by the river that offered both tranquility and access to the refreshing waters of Nestos. Chris provided detailed directions on how to reach this hidden paradise, and with that, my plan was set. Little did I know, this spontaneous decision would lead to one of the most memorable experiences of my trip.
